I’ll be Guest of Honor at MarsCon!

MarsCon Dementia Track Banner

I am really excited to be the Musical Guest of Honor at this year’s MarsCon, a fan-run science fiction and fantasy convention that features an extensive Dementia Music Track. What is Dementia Music, you ask? Comedy, novelty, oddity, and strange music of the kind curated by the great Dr. Demento, who’s syndicated FM radio show was the home of comedy music for decades.

Dr. Demento moved from the FM airwaves to the internet’s data packets and still brings novelty music to his devoted fans every week. I first heard Dr. D’s show when I was in junior high, and the first time one of my songs was played on his show was one of my earliest—and still most cherished—career highlights. Which is why when I say I’m very flattered to be a guest of honor at a convention that brings together his fans and curates music in his spirit you know I mean it.

This year’s lineup of artists is extensive and there will be fun performances all weekend long, including the likes of:

If you’re a Sci Fi and/or comedy music fan and can get to the Twin Cities area the first weekend in March you should definitely come check out this very grass-roots, fan-run convention. They have a fundraiser over at their site, it’s a DIY fest without any corporate backing so if you’d like to help them out I know it would be greatly appreciated. And they have some great rewards for various levels of support.

I hope to see you in the Twin Cities!

I’m really excited to be part of such an amazing group of talented performers in this year’s Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin, TX. Over Labor Day Weekend the Out of Bounds folks have assembled performers from all many different styles of comedy, including writers from Key & Peele, SNL Alums, stand-up comics, improv groups and more.

I’ll be performing on Friday night, August 29th, at the Institution Theater, sharing the bill with Austin-based improv group Indigo Shift and Denver-based duo De La Thwazz. I’ve got a nice, juicy 25-minute time slot that I’m going to jam-pack with my funny tunes and musical standup.

Mount Rock!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show at Mt. Saint Mary’s College last night in Newburgh, NY. The SGA staff and crew were great hosts—there were cookies, t-shirts, and BAKED CHEETOS!!

It was a pleasure to share the bill with the very energetic Steve Marshall, a surprise set by the comedy duo Ben & Josh, and the headliner Jessimae Peluso, who all had great sets and were loved by the crowd.

It was especially nice to be back at The Mount because I performed there a couple of years ago and they brought me back for more. It’s always nice to be remembered.

Here’s a pic of me and the crew.

Brooklyn Show Monday, Dec 9th!

Record Recall Party!

Monday, Dec 9
8:00 pm
Union Hall
702 Union St. (at 5th Ave) Brooklyn
Tickets available here.
With special guests A Brief View of the Hudson and Tom Shillue!

Some of you may have noticed the odd occurrences that have been reported in the iTunes reviews for my latest album Keep Your Jazz Hand Strong. There have been so many in fact that I’ve been advised to issue a recall of the CD, and instead of doing a boring press conference or social media outreach I decided to just have a recall party.

It’ll be like a record release party—I’ll play a full set of songs from the album (in a safe, live environment), and there will be a couple of very special guests.

And best of all, the entire show in only $8, it’s at a great Brooklyn venue, and there’s no drink minimum!

So come if you can, and if you’re one of the folks who have been hurt or inured by the CD version of the album, bring it down and you can exchange it for a copy that has been tested and approved by the FDA, the EPA, and OSHA.

Hope to see you there!

Laughingstock Music Festival–Aug 25, Chicago, IL

The Laughingstock Music Fest will be bringing over 30 comedy music acts to Chicago’s legendary rock club Double Door for a day-long orgy of music-infused comedy. Rocking 2 stages from 3pm to midnight, Laughingstock is going to be one hell of an event.

I’ll be hitting the mainstage around 8:45pm for a nice 25-minute set and I couldn’t be more excited. This is my first show back in Chicago in over a year and a half! That’s just too darn long.

I hope you can make it! Getting tickets in advance is highly recommended because with this many great performances the fest will most likely sell out. You can get tickets at this link, check out the fest’s facebook page here, and I set up a facebook event for my set if you’d like to RSVP to that to keep all of your info in one place.

Hope you can make it!
